About Chris Wallace

Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon

In 2014, Mr Wallace was appointed Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, with an Honorary Consultant appointment at Torbay Hospital, and additional clinics at Axminster Hospital.  He is Core Member of the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, Core Member of the Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Team and Training Representative for the Department of Plastic Surgery.

 

Mr Wallace’s private practice is based at Mount Stuart Hospital in Torquay, the Nuffield Hospital in Exeter, and Purity in Exeter.  Mr Wallace offers the full breadth of modern cosmetic surgery, and has special interests in cosmetic surgery of the breasts, body, face, eyelids, ears and nose as well as a range of non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as botulinum toxin to relax facial wrinkles and dermal fillers to restore facial volume and support sagginess.

Research and Quality Control

Mr Wallace has published 68 manuscripts in international peer-reviewed Medical, Scientific and Plastic Surgery journals and 12 chapters in Plastic Surgery Textbooks.  His published works have been acknowledged as significant by more than 700 citations in the worldwide literature.

 

Mr Wallace has presented more than 50 peer-reviewed lectures at international level conferences, and has won national and international prizes for his work.  He was therefore invited to serve on the Editorial Boards for the Annals of Plastic Surgery, Frontiers in Reconstructive Surgery and International Microsurgery Journal, three peer-reviewed international Plastic Surgery Journals. He also was honoured by an invitation to judge and quality control surgical outcomes delivered by the world’s largest cleft lip/palate charity, “Smile Train”, with which he is proud to be associated.

Education and Training

Mr Chris Wallace was educated at Tonbridge School, Kent, before attending Edinburgh University Medical School from 1994.  He qualified as a doctor in 2000 with Bachelor Degrees in Medicine, Surgery, and in Science with Honours.  He completed Basic Surgical Training in Edinburgh, and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004.

 

Mr Wallace’s Plastic Surgery training began in Edinburgh and continued in Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.  In 2005, he was competitively selected for Microsurgery Fellowship at the revered Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, where he was personally trained by the world-famous Plastic Surgeon, Professor Fu-Chan Wei, and achieved his Masters Degree with Medal.  He returned to England in 2008 to complete Specialist Plastic Surgery training and gained Fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Plastic Surgery in 2012. He undertook additional sub-specialist fellowships covering complex surgery for the face, head and neck, craniofacial aesthetics, and cosmetic surgery, and was listed on the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery (4699389).
